Track Shack had the pleasure of joining the FINFROCK team for their Tuesday TEA (Training, Enrichment and Awareness) Lunch & Learn, where employees step away from their desks to focus on leadership, community, and health. Hearing from Team Captain Diane Bauer and Co- Captain Melissa Whissell made it clear that wellness isn’t just a program at FINFROCK, it’s a priority woven into their culture.
With seven years participating in the AdventHealth Corporate 5K, FINFROCK uses the event to strengthen cross-department connections and bring their 500+ employees together outside the office. As they prepare for another year, we’re Spotlighting how Diane, Melissa and their team build excitement internally, support long-term health initiatives, and create a celebration that extends far beyond the finish line.
Q: What are some incentives or strategies your team uses to encourage participation in the Corporate 5K?
A: To build excitement and foster team spirit, we host group training runs and happy hours at Lake Ivanhoe and promote the 5K during courtyard events to encourage sign-ups. We create custom trail maps featuring routes past our completed projects throughout Orlando, turning training runs into a tour of our work. We’ve also established a walking trail around our manufacturing facility to make daily movement more accessible.
Q: How do you use the Corporate 5K for strategic business purposes?
A: The Corporate 5K is an extension of our commitment to employee health and wellness, which supports our recruiting and retention strategy. It helps us attract talent aligned with our culture, build stronger internal connections, and demonstrate our investment in long-term employee wellness.
Q: Please share some of your company’s workplace wellness initiatives and the benefits you’ve seen.
A: We offer quarterly fitness bonuses for completing workout logs, yearly Biometric screening and Benefits Fair and also cover registration costs for employees who participate in the 5K. These initiatives support physical health, strengthen engagement, and reinforce our values as an employer who invests in our people, on and off the clock.
Q: Is there anything you’d like to share about your company’s experience at the Corporate 5K?
A: The event brings our team together across architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and construction; departments that don’t always get to interact. We celebrate with a post-race tent party and award gift cards to top finishers in walking and running categories, often supporting local businesses like Track Shack.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a first-time Corporate 5K team?
A: Get excited and promote the event internally. Use engaging graphics, encourage participation at all fitness levels, and create an inclusive environment. Excitement is contagious.
