At Track Shack, we believe sustainability is something we can practice every day, at the store, at our events, and at home. As runners, walkers, and members of our community, we have a responsibility to think about the impact we leave behind and look for ways to do better.
Every choice matters, and when we take those steps together, they can add up to something much bigger.
What We Do
Go Paperless
Registration is 100% online and volunteer waivers are electronic, eliminating thousands of pieces of paper for each of our events.
Digital Race Information
Our virtual goodie bag provide participants with final race information, course maps and sponsor deals digitally.
Sort & Recycle
Instead of sending all event waste to the landfill, we collect and sort plastic bottles, soft plastics, cans, plastic film, paper and cardboard.
Compost Food Waste
O-Town Compost captures compostable food waste on race day and returns that organic material to Florida soil through partner farmers, local nonprofits and subscribers.
Reduce Single-Use Plastic
During the OUC Orlando Half Marathon Weekend, OUC provides clean H2OUC from hydrants to serve runners and walkers along the route.

Recycled Race Shirts
Race shirts for OUC Weekend are made with recycled polyester and printed locally using sustainable, phthalate-free inks.
Sustainable Race Materials
Run for the Trees Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5K features recyclable and compostable bibs and compostable cups, with compostable cups also being used throughout OUC Orlando Half Marathon Weekend.
What You Can Do
Small choices from every participant can make a big difference. Here are a few ways you can help make race day more sustainable.
Bring Your Own Hydration
Bring your personal handheld hydration device or belt to the race to help reduce single-use containers.
Sort Your Race Day Waste
Before and after the race, bring your waste to our "Trash Recycle Compost" tent. Banana peel, water bottle or just trash, we'll help make sure it goes where it belongs.
Recycle Your Running Shoes
Give your used running shoes another life by recycling them at Track Shack. We partner with Sneaker Seekers, an organization committed to "tying our community together one lace at a time."
Offset Your Carbon Footprint
Travel to and from our events makes up the largest part of our event's carbon footprint. At registration, you can purchase a carbon offset supporting locally crafted, meaningful offsets from We Are Neutral.
