Point Leaders Focus on the Finale

As the 2016-2017 Track Shack Running Series races to the end, it’s going to be a sprint to the finish for runners who are competing for overall and age group awards and, of course, bragging rights!

Following a Grand Prix format, the Track Shack Running Series uses a points-based system based on results from each race. Runners who finish in the overall or top age group positions receive points at each of the six series events.  Series winners
are recognized at a special ceremony following the Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Winter Park Road Race presented by Florida Hospital on March 25!

Heading into the grand finale, here’s what to watch for:

Men’s Overall Division – Series point leader Ty McCormack appears to be the runaway leader with Nathan Adams right on his heels.
Ty, like many of the top competitors, has to run the Winter Park Road Race to clinch the top prize including $1,000 prize money and merchandise.

Currently, there’s a 3rd place tie between Brian Sharbano and series new comer Ram Khalmuratov.   Close competition extends beyond the top five men to include a tight race between Masters runners (age 40+) Bill Vanos and Luis Pou.

Women’s Overall Division – Natasha Yaremczuk has a perfect score going into the Winter Park Road Race and must run to hold off Erica Weitz who is coming off a recent first place victory at the Napa Valley Marathon!
Heather Schulz and Anja Drew are currently tied for third place overall.

Bottom line: The start line should be crowded with contenders vying for $10,000 in cash, prizes and recognition as Track Shack Running Series Champions! View prize breakdown.

Fierce competition is not limited to just to the fastest runners; for example, just one point separates veteran runners Phil Wisniewski and Jack Gallagher in the men’s 80+ category!  Awards are given in Masters (40+),
Grand Masters (50+), Senior Grand Masters (60+) and including 14 age groups recognizing the achievements of our 8  year olds to 80+ athletes.
